FAQs
Do I need a partner?
Absolutely not. For your private lessons, your instructor serves as your dance partner. In group classes, you dance with the other students in the class, and rotate partners constantly. If you have a partner, it’s a wonderful way for you to share something together, and to practice together when you’re not in the studio. But if you don’t have a partner, dancing with your teacher is the fastest, most effective way to learn. And who knows? You just might meet the dance partner you’re looking for in one of the group classes or practice parties.
What should I wear?
As a first-timer, street shoes are fine. Preferably, thin-soled or leather-soled shoes are best, rather than athletic shoes, platforms, or shoes with very high heels. Rubber soled shoes will stick to the floor; sandals and sling-backs will not give you the support you may need for dancing. Once you have decided to stick with it, you may want to purchase dance shoes. There are specific dance shoes for different styles of dancing. Your instructor can help you when that time comes.
We also recommend to wear something that is comfortable and easy to move in.
